Already there are talks of using the shock of the disaster in Haiti to forward imperial policy. Be careful to whom you donate and let's keep our eyes on Haiti. The following statement was put out and then hastily taken back by the Heritage Foundation:
"In addition to providing immediate humanitarian assistance, the U.S. response to the tragic earthquake in Haiti earthquake offers opportunities to re-shape Haiti’s long-dysfunctional government and economy as well as to improve the public image of the United States in the region."
This ideology is not coincidentally of the same sort on play in Iraq, Afghanistan, and New Orleans. Let's mobilize funds to good organizations and monitor what is happening in terms of policy in Haiti!
